About Me
I have been practicing massage therapy and associated modalities for over thirty years. Treatments generally consist of advanced bodywork techniques such as trigger point therapy, cross fibre friction, stretching and range of movement integration.
Heat or cold may be used to help correct muscular imbalances, release restrictions, remove painful spasms and work out stubborn knots within the musculature. Soft tissue mobilization and mild manipulative therapy may also form part of a specific treatment accompanied by using a massage gun to enhance effects.
I can help manage your back pain and alleviate that nagging tightness across your shoulders and neck that restricts movement and keeps you awake at night.
Massage Therapy
Massage is defined as the systematic and scientific manipulation of the soft tissues of the body for the purpose of establishing or maintaining good health. Whether you are looking to relax and de-stress with a basic massage, or you need more advanced therapy to address specific issues, I can give you the unique and effective bodywork you need.
Basic massage is a gentle treatment and great for people who are feeling stressed and anxious. A basic massage is the classic go-to for major relaxation.
Sports Massage
Sports Massage is a type of massage designed for highly active people. Engaging in sports is harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries in both the short and long term. Sports Massage enhances performance and prolongs a sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pains and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates. Sports Massage is also highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body’s natural immune function.
Remedial Massage
Remedial massage is a complementary therapy that aims to treat muscles that are damaged, knotted, tense or immobile. It is used for problems that affect the muscles, tendons and ligaments and can address a number of other health problems.
Remedial massage is used to locate and repair damaged areas of the body and speed up the body’s own healing processes. The pressure applied in this healing treatment can either be strong and deep or gentle and shallow, depending on the problem.
Manipulative Therapy
Involves all the above. Manipulative therapy massage is a form of physical therapy during which the practitioner uses his or her hands to massage, stretch, apply pressure, and overcome resistance to targeted areas of the body to treat musculoskeletal and joint dysfunction.
The main goals of manipulation and massage are to relieve pain and improve mobility. These treatments can be very effective, particularly for low back pain.
